Dog Agility & Obedience Training
Dog Agility is a great sport for you and your dog. Anyone can participate and at the Messy Pawz Dog Training all dogs are welcome regardless of their age or prior training. Our special course is designed for puppies, active dogs and seniors, and even dogs that are over weight and need to lose those extra kilos.
Dog Agility is a sport where dogs walk run through a course of weaving poles, A frames, jumps and tunnels and lots more. We are adding more pieces all the time. It is important that dogs learn to jump, climb and even walk over different kinds of materials. To find out how each piece of equipment trains your dog click here.
Dogs have a great fun, learning new skills, spending quality time with their owner and socializing with other dogs. They will also gets lots of well needed exercise.
Dogs that do only one hour's agility per week are more relaxed, more obedient and much more contented. This is because they have learnt to trust their owners. Dogs are often reluctant to crawl through tunnels or step over jumps until they have been shown how to do it safely and have been rewarded for their efforts.
Dogs learn that their owners are not putting them in danger but are, instead, showing them that they can have a great time completing the agility course. This has lead to some amazing stories of dogs that are more obedient. Dogs that will sit and wait eagerly for their owner's next command instead of walking off and ignoring their owner. Some owners have also reported that their dogs are less aggressive because they are being exposed safely to other dogs and people.
At the Messy Pawz Dog Training we don't hold competitions. Instead, our clients are encouraged to attend and spend time with their dog in a relaxed and friendly environment. Our instructors are trained to encourage and assist and are there to offer support, guidance and advice.
